MultiChoice Talent Factory
The MTF Academy is a tailored, 12-month training programme facilitated at regional academies based in Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and South Africa, and headed by industry experts. Working hand-in-hand with local and international creative organisations, regulatory and government partners across the continent, MultiChoice uses its people, facilities and network to provide young emerging filmmakers with the skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications to help the MTF graduates launch a successful career within the creative industry. Through the MTF Academies we have empowered 206 emerging filmmakers from 14 countries across the continent. Collectively they have produced 30 Movies and 16 short films for broadcast on M-Net local channels and Showmax as well as 7 public service announcements (PSA) for the United Nations #PledgetoPause campaign.Let’s Play
Through sponsored sports facilities and equipment, as well as coaching clinics, competitions and training, SuperSport encourages young people to take part in healthy activities. Not only does this improve their physical strength, but it’s been proven to strengthen social skills and enhance psychological development. Let’s Play initiatives reach schools and communities across South Africa.
DStv Diski Challenge
The DStv Diski Challenge invests in the future of the beautiful game through a football competition for Premier Soccer League reserve teams, life-skills training for players, broadcasting internships, leadership training for coaches, and the opportunity for community channels on DStv to air the matches for free.Youth Employment Service (YES)
As part of its continued commitment to South Africa’s youth, MultiChoice Group has extended its partnership with the Youth Employment Service (YES) and its service providers to assist with the recruitment and training of learners which were recruited across all nine provinces. The YES initiative calls on business to help the government create critical work experience for unemployed youth who would otherwise have had limited opportunities for employment across the country.
SuperSport Rugby Challenge
The SuperSport Rugby Challenge is a rugby tournament in partnership with SA Rugby that aims to re-establish the vital link between club and provincial rugby. The initiative’s mission is to use sport as a platform to develop broadcast talent, while providing a platform for young rugby players to develop as they prepare to play in higher levels of rugby. With free entry to the games, fans from all walks of life get to see their heroes in action.Stop Wildlife Crime Online
Each day, we lose three rhinos to poaching. Our African Elephant numbers decline by 8% annually, and cheetah populations have diminished by 30% over the past 15 years. Cybersecurity experts, Irdeto, have teamed up with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) in an effort to track wildlife crime online and thereby disrupt the illegal animal trade economy. The partnership will also work with local law enforcement; providing key forensic data to help locate these reprehensible criminals. Irdeto and AWF: using technology for good to safeguard our African heritage.
